RETREAT DESCRIPTIONS

WIM HOF METHOD WEEKEND RETREAT

  • with Dan Coniglio

Put yourself in the expert hands of a WHM Instructor for an extended Wim Hof Method training session. WHM Weekends are intended to be a deeper exploration of the Wim Hof Method than what might be covered in a workshop.

Over the course of two days, all facets of the Wim Hof Method will be extensively covered. You will learn about the physiological mechanisms that come into play, and engage in a variety of breathing and cold therapy activities. Dan incorporates other activities that work in synergy with the Wim Hof Method — yoga, meditation, musical sessions, et cetera — to create a unique and vibrant weekend experience.

From Dan Coniglio:

When I saw the Vice documentary on Wim Hof I saw an opportunity to heal my relationship with the cold. Up until that moment, I had never enjoyed the cold or the winter.

The cold is a reliable and natural trigger for fear. Learning how to be present and manage fear is one of the most important things we can learn. Every WHM session is an opportunity to use the tools of Breath, Mindset, and Cold for personal healing and transformation. We come together in a supportive group to learn, breathe and face a challenge which reveals our true power. This is our nature.

My goal is to use my combined experience as a personal coach, yoga instructor and musician to give you clear, engaging and entertaining guidance into the Wim Hof Method.

Who is this workshop for? This weekend is suitable for everyone, but does require a basic level of health. Out of precaution, we advise against participation during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. People with cardiovascular issues, or any other serious health conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting the Wim Hof Method.

12-STEP YOGA RETREAT

  • with Cynthia Banks

Explore a new depth and understanding in recovery from addictive behaviours.

This uniquely created retreat brings together the principles of the 12 Steps used in many recovery programs combined with yogic philosophy for the gentle practice of yoga.  Each yoga session will be followed by a group discussion to share new insights and perspectives brought about by the practice.

How do the 12 steps express themselves on our mat, in our practice and into our daily lives?  Cynthia Banks is donating her time to facilitate this retreat.  Costs are to cover accommodations, cleaning services and food.

From Cynthia:

30 years ago I was introduced to the 12 Steps of Recovery.  I have been shown by many beautiful people who have gone before me how to live a principled life through the steps but it wasn’t until I began the practice of yoga that I found a greater depth of emotional sobriety.   Bringing the steps into my yoga practice has given me a greater awareness of what I need to practice off my mat. The breath work and pranayama energy has become an essential part of my connection with my Divine Creator.  I’m so excited to share this practice and hear about your awarenesses.

AYURVEDA & YOGA RETREAT

  • with Nienke and Sacha (from YogaBliss in Whitby)

Join Nienke and Sacha for an enchanting weekend of nature, learning and nourishment. The intention of this retreat is to nurture your mind, body and soul through heart-centered yoga and Ayurveda practices. You will gain simple tools of self-care that are relevant to you and your personal wellness journey but that can also be extended to your family and beyond.

A fundamental teaching of Ayurveda is to cultivate a lifestyle that is in harmony with the cycles of nature so you will learn how to maximize your summer health. You will also deepen your understanding of Ayurvedic teachings in the following areas: daily routine (dinacharya), seasonal routine (ritucharya), self-massage (ahbyanga), women’s health, and food.

From Nienke and Sacha:

We are excited to offer this healing Ayurvedic Retreat, as we have both learned and applied many of the Ayurvedic teachings to create balance and wellness in our own lives. We are delighted to share this nourishing weekend in the nature and community with others. This retreat is open to anyone curious about Ayurveda or who wants to deepen their knowledge of the sister science of yoga.
